Goa CM to brief PM on Scarlette Keelings's death case

New Delhi, Mar 18: Goa Chief Minister Digamber Kamat, Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan SinghGoa Chief Minister Digamber Kamat will meet Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh here this afternoon and brief him about developments relating to the murder of British teenager Scarlette Keeling.

According to sources, Kamat is also scheduled to meet Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh at 3:30 p. m.

The body of Scarlett was found at Goa's popular Anjuna beach on February 18.

Scarlett's murder unlikely to affect Goa tourism: CM

Scarlett KeelingsPanaji, Mar 11 : Goa’s Chief Minister Digambar Kamath told reporters today that British teenager Scarlett Keeling's murder would not affect tourism in the State.

On the recent incident of Scarlett, s murder, Kamath said, "We have 2.5 million tourists visiting the State. When such a large number of tourists come and if one or two incidents take place of such nature, there is no need for the media to blow it out of proportion. I had said in the beginning of the incident that we will go to the root cause of the incident, if there is a false play,"

CM Digamber Kamat discusses Goa political situation with Sonia Gandhi

New Delhi, Jan 18 CM Goa Digamber Kamat: Goa Chief Minister Digamber Kamat met Congress party President Sonia Gandhi here today, and discussed the political situation in the State after the Congress-led government was reduced to a minority.

"We met Sonia Gandhi and briefed her about the political situation in Goa. We discussed the situation," Kamat told reporters after meeting Sonia.

Kamat said that he was hopeful of finding a solution to the crisis soon.

Goa Chief Minister Kamath in New Delhi to hold talks with Sonia

New Delhi, Jan 18: Goa Chief Minister Digamber Kamat will hold talks with Congress President Sonia Gandhi here today to discuss the political crisis in the State.

National Congress Party (NCP) General Secretary Praful Patel was in Panaji to hold talks with three of his MLAs and an independent Viswajeet Rane to ask them not to press for withdrawal of support to the seven-month-old government, which is on the verge of collapse.

Patel later said, "the government will survive. We will find some solution."

Goa Assembly prorogued, political activities fasten up

New Delhi/Panaji, Jan 17:Goa Chief Minister Digambar Kamat The Goa Legislative Assembly was prorogued on Thursday following Chief Minister Digamber Kamat’s recommendation.

On Wednesday the Digamber Kamat Government came into minority after two Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Ministers along with Save Goa Front Legislators withdrew their support to the government.

Digamber Kamat to discuss Goa SEZ issue with Union Commerce Minister

Goa Chief Minister Digamber KamatPanaji, Jan 3: Goa Chief Minister Digamber Kamat is expected to meet Union Commerce and Industry Minister Kamal Nath here today on the issue of Goa Government's decision to scrap all Special Economic Zones (SEZs) in the State.

Union Commerce Secretary Gopal Pillai, on Wednesday, said that the State Governments have no power to scrap notified SEZs.

The Goa Government had decided to scrap all 15 SEZs in the State on December 31, 2007 following widespread political protests, including by the Congress party workers.
