Proposed Meeting Of Dera Banned

Proposed Meeting Of Dera BannedIn an important move, the district authorities on Sunday declined permission to the proposed congregation of the Dera Sacha Sauda, which was to be held in Jalalana here on Monday. It may be here recalled that Dera Sacha Sauda organises a congregation in Jalalana on January 12 every year. The village is considered as the birth place of the former sect head.

With this move, all the Dera followers who had gathered from far-off areas of Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and other neighbouring states to participate in the congregation were disappointed.

Speaking on this, DC SK Goyal said, “We have decided to decline permission of congregation to the Dera Sacha Sauda in view of the mounting tension and have intimated this to the Dera.”

Meanwhile, a large number of Sikhs started assembling in the gurdwara at Odhan under Sukhwinder Singh Khalsa of the Shri Guru Granth Sahib Satkaar Sabha, at Dadu Sahib Gurdwara under Sant Baljit Singh Khalsa and at Desu Malkana under Daljit Singh Bittu of the Ek Noor Khalsa Force. The district authorities had deployed a heavy police force around these gurdwaras.

Some Sikh followers have alleged that Giani Balwant Singh Nandgarh, Jathedar of Takht Damdama Sahib who was coming towards Odhan with his followers, was stopped by the police at Desu Malkana.

Reacting to the orders of the district administration, Pawan Insan (Spokesperson, Dera Sacha Sauda) said it was unfortunate that the authorities had chosen to ban the congregation under pressure.

Insan also claimed that the naam charcha organised by the dera was meant to reform people and guide them to shun addictions and social evils.

Earlier on several occasions both the Sikhs and Dera followers have clashed with each other during these prayer meetings.
