London - Tottenham Hotspur moved clear of the relegation zone in the English Premier League with a 2-0 win Monday at West Ham United.
Second-half goals from captain Ledley King and Jamie O'Hara lifted the visiting side to 15th place, three points ahead of the bottom three.
After missing two good first-half chances, Tottenham finally went ahead on 67 minutes when King headed Aaron Lennon's cross into the ground and over West Ham goalkeeper Robert Green.
After Heurelho Gomes made a superb double save to protect the lead, Spurs sealed the win when Jamie O'Hara smashed in the second goal in the dying minutes.
"I'm just pleased with the effort the lads point in," King said.
London - Peter Reid moved on Tuesday to dismiss reports linking him to the vacant managerial position at Sunderland.
The Thailand manager seemed to suggest in his newspaper column that he would be keen to the club he twice led to seventh position in the Premier League.
"I said that in a certain amount of time I want go back to England," he explained to reporters in Thailand.
"But I have a contract in Thailand that I want to fulfil. I didn't say I wanted to go back to Sunderland, sometimes in England you get misquoted.
"I haven't been offered the job at Sunderland and I will not take it if I am offered it. I haven't asked for the job at Sunderland.
London - Recently-divorced US pop icon Madonna is claiming more than 5 million pounds (7.3 million dollars) damages from a British newspaper for the publication of photographs of her wedding to film director Guy Ritchie eight years ago, her lawyer said Monday.
At proceedings at the High Court in London, lawyer Matthew Nicklin said that the pictures, published by the Mail on Sunday newspaper on October 19, had been copied "surreptitiously" by an interior designer during work at her home in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles.
London - Michael Stone, one of the most notorious figures among former Protestant paramilitary groups in Northern Ireland, was Monday sentenced to 16 years in jail for the attempted murder of Sinn Fein leaders Gerry Adams and Martin McGuinness.
The 53-year-old former leading member of the Ulster Defence Association (UDA), was sentenced by Belfast Crown Court for an armed attack on the Stormont regional parliament in November, 2006.
The court heard that the dramatic attempt to storm the building was aimed at "slitting the throats" of Adams and McGuinness who were in the chamber in Belfast at the time.

The band’s members, Gary Barlow, Mark Owen, Howard Donald and Jason Orange made a remarkable comeback with their album, which has sold 432,000 copies in a week.
“We set out to make a record each of us was really proud of and we did that,” the Sun quoted Barlow as saying.
“To then have it fly off the shelves like it did this week has been just amazing,” he stated.
The new album became the fastest-selling album of the year in the UK, with only Oasis’s ‘Be Here Now’ and Coldplay’s ‘X&Y’ selling more.
