Bhubaneshwar, Apr 1 : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Lal Krishna Advani on Wednesday targeted Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh for his statement about the need for India and Pakistan fighting militancy jointly.
Dr. Singh on Tuesday said that India and Pakistan should jointly face the scourge of terrorism.
Addressing a news conference here, Advani termed the Central Government''s policy on terrorism was "deeply flawed".
Sonepur (Orissa)/ Gaya/Sholapur (Maharashtra), Apr 1 : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Lal Krishna Advani has promised religious tours for people if voted to power.
"If BJP gets an opportunity to form the Central Government, our department of tourism will have a special section that will specialise in religious tourism," Advani said at an election meeting at Sonepur in Orissa.
Kendrapara (Orissa), Apr. 1: A tornado on Tuesday evening killed at least 12 people and injured 150 others in villages of Orissa''s Kendrapara district.
"Twelve bodies were recovered so far after the furious tornado swept 11 villages in five gram panchayats. A large number of people were injured," Additional Superintendent of Police Kumarmani Meher said.
However, local panchayat raj functionaries and residents of Rajkanika block have put the death toll at 20.
Bhubaneswar, Mar 29 : At least four people were killed and 13 others injured in an explosion at a house in Purushottampur, 50 km from Orissa''s Berhampur, early Sunday.
According to police official, the incident took place at around 2:00m a. m. when people were allegedly making bombs near the site of local ''danda dance'' festival.
Soon after the bomb under preparation went off accidentally, other finished bombs and explosives caught fire triggering a massive explosion, the sources added.
Mayurbhanj (Orissa), Mar 29 : Maoists blew up three forest range offices in Similipal Tiger Project (STP) area in Orissa''s Mayurbhanj District early Sunday.
The incident took place at around 1:00 a. m. when Maoists blew up Barahakamuda, Chahala and Dhuduruchampa range offices located in different core areas of the forest reserve, said N Nagaraj Reddy, field director of STP.
They also tied up some tourists at Chahala and Forest personnel at Barahakamuda and Dhuduruchampa
The Maoists also set ablaze two government vehicles. However, there were no reports of any causality.
