Washington, January 3: Alaska Governor Sarah Palin is doing all that she can to prevent the press from publishing inaccurate reports about her unwed teenage daughter Bristol, who recently gave birth to a baby boy.

Palin, who was the Republican vice-presidential candidate for the 2008 election, personally contacted three publications-People magazine, the Associated Press and the Anchorage Daily News-contesting reports on the birth of Tripp Easton Mitchell Johnston that described Bristol and her fiance Levi Johnston as "high-school dropouts".

"You need to know that both Levi and Bristol are working their butts off to parent and going to school and working at the same time. They are certainly not high-school dropouts," the Washington Times quoted her as saying in a telephonic message to People, which had promptly published the words on its Web site.

Palin argued that projecting the young parents in such a bad manner could harm their reputation, "and their chances for good work opportunities."

Contacting the AP and the Alaska paper via e-mail, Palin also insisted that the young couple would be providing a good life to their child besides concentrating on their studies.

"Bristol begins her final semester of high school next week where she''ll get her last credit needed to graduate. Levi is continuing his online high school work in addition to working as an electrical apprentice," she said.

"The road ahead for this young couple will not be easy, but nothing worthwhile is ever easy. Bristol and Levi are committed to accomplish what millions of other young parents have accomplished, to provide a loving and secure environment for their child. They are both hard workers, they''re very strong and have faith they''ve made the right decision in setting aside their own interests to make this child their highest priority," she added. (ANI)
