Sensex surges nearly 4 per cent on strong global cues
New Delhi - India's benchmark Sensex index rose by 4 per cent during trade Friday, mirroring strong gains on the US and Asian bourses.
The 30-share sensitive Sensex index of the Bombay Stock Exchange, which rose 2.25 per cent on Thursday, moved up further by 3.95 per cent to 8,671.36 points by 1:25 pm (0755 GMT).
All the 13 sectoral indices on the BSE were in positive terrain with the indices for banking and realty gaining the most.
The broader 50-share S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange also climbed 76.7 points or 2.93 per cent to 2,694.15 around the same time.
Trading sentiment on domestic bourses got a boost after an overnight rally in the US markets and gains in the Asian markets, market analysts said.
India's inflation dropping to a near seven-year low of 2.43 per cent also had a positive impact on the trading, they added. (dpa)
