Summons Issued Against AIIMS Doctors For ‘Fabricating’ Medical Reports

Summons Issued Against AIIMS Doctors For ‘Fabricating’ Medical ReportsDelhi court has issued summons against three AIIMS doctors in order to explain the “fabrication” of medical reports of a woman who filed a dowry harassment case against her separated partner (husband) and his family members (in-laws) after allegedly being beaten up by them.

Additional Sessions Judge Brijesh Kumar Garg noted the alleged discrepancy in the reports of the woman made by physicians S Lalwani, Arvind Kumar and Gaurav.

The accused Tej Pal Singh and the appellant, both divorcees, married on March 29, 2008.

Tej Pal was charged of misappropriating dowry articles and beating up his spouse.

The woman had registered an FIR at the Hazrat Nizamuddin police station on the strength of alleged fabricated injury reports on October 20.

The court said, “...the doctors on duty have acted either under pressure or in connivance with the complainant (woman) or at the behest of senior doctors or senior police officers and have knowingly and willingly fabricated medical records.”

Permitting the anticipatory bail appeal of the accused Tej Pal Singh, Mr. Brijesh ordered that notices be issued against all 3 physicians under Section 340 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
