Srinagar, Feb 28 : The Sheri Kashmir University of Agriculture Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K) in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir's Department of Wildlife Protection and the Wildlife Trust of India (WTI), organized a practical workshop for veterinary students from across the country and taught them how to tranquilize wild animals such as leopards.

Veterinary students from across the country participated in the workshop.

The aim was to equip the students with first hand knowledge about dealing with wild animals when they enter civilian areas.

The participants commended the efforts of the concerned departments.

"For the first time here, we are being taught how to tranquilize leopards. We were given many tips on how to cope with animal conflicts," said Bashir Ahmad, a veterinary student.

"We feel it is a good opportunity for training people. We hope that we can create more opportunities for people to share information and provide knowledge," said Anand Ramanathan, the head of International Fund of Animals (IFA), an NGO. (ANI)
