Vice President releases book ‘Inner Peace’ in New Delhi

Hamid AnsariNew Delhi, Sept 12 : Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari released a book titled ‘Inner Peace’ by Sri Paramahansa Yogananda at a function organized by Yogoda Satasanga Society of India (YSS) here today.

Addressing the occasion, the Vice President said that YSS is serving mankind as one’s larger self through its activities. It is also doing commendable job by serving thousands of poor people.

He said that the Yoganandji found a yearning among large sections of society, for ancient teachings in India and techniques of God realization.

Praising the contribution of Yoganandji, Ansari said that the great thing which Yoganand did was to take meditation beyond India and gave it a structure. He hoped that this useful and inspirational book would be a type of “Teach Yourself” series of book and will be of immense help to many people who want peace of mind. This publication will certainly be a great service to mankind.

The Vice President said that the peace is something we must learn to find within ourselves. Many people meditate as they have understood its value and experienced its beneficial effects. Meditation utilizes concentration in its highest form.

The book is a compilation from Yoganand’s discourses and writings. It is an inspiring and practical guide to transforming nervousness and stress into happiness and peace. It shows one how to overcome fear, worry, anger and moodiness and how to remain focused on the present.

The teachings of Yogananda are a special dispensation meant for healing of body and mind and can surely help modern man to become ‘calmly actively and actively calm’ in the midst of today’s turmoil. He is known for his contribution towards understanding and appreciation of yoga in the West.

The YSS is carrying forward the legacy of its founder for over 90 years. In its various meditation centers throughout the country, people gather for group meditations and also pray for world peace. Its followers disseminate the teachings through lecture tours.
