Aamir’s ‘Taare Zameen Par’ Out Of Oscar Race!

Aamir’s ‘Taare Zameen Par’ Out Of Oscar Race!Music maestro A R Rahman has really made India proud by winning the high-status Golden Globe Award for Danny Boyle’s Mumbai based saga ‘Slumdog Millionaire’.

But 2007’s highly-acclaimed film ‘Taare Zameen Par’ (TZP) has failed to make it to the Oscar nomination list.

Aamir Khan’s directorial debut TZP, which was India’s official entry to Oscar, did not figure among the nine films (short listed in the foreign language film category) competing for the 81st Academy Awards.

In past, blockbusters like Mother India, Salaam Bombay and Lagaan have made it to the nominations list.

The nine short-listed films include renowned Israeli documentary ‘Watz with Bashir’ that won the coveted Golden Globe for Best Foreign Film and German movie ‘Baader Meinhof Complex’, which looks at a terrorist group in that country.

The ones chosen from amongst the 65 options will now go for the next voting round. The selection groups in New York and Los Angeles will then select five nominees from among them.

The winners will be announced on February 22.

There were many hopes that TZP would make it to the Oscars at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center.

Written by Amol Gupte, Taare Zameen Par is about a dyslexic child, portrayed by debutant child actor Darsheel Safary.

The film shows the child’s battle with dyslexia and how a responsive teacher assists him out of the condition.

Aamir must be pretty disappointed about the whole thing. But, don’t worry, better luck next time, Aamir Khan.
