‘EMI’: a watchable film about everyman’s problemsThe film 'EMI' produced by Suniel Shetty and directed by Saurabh Kadra, folds reality with necessary filmi masala. It is about common folks from middle class families, falling into the EMI - easy monthly installments - trap either willingly or under duress.

Though the film looks promising in the beginning, the story is not able to sustain the momentum. The storyline goes thus - a few families, who have taken loans beyond their means, find themselves in trouble as a loan recovery agency follows up with them.

The simple plot revolves around the victims of reckless loan taking. They are Aashish Chowdhary-Neha Uberoi as the rather incompatible couple Anil-Shilpa; Kulbhushan Kharbanda as a retired man; Arjun Rampal as a crafty conman Ryan, with Malaika Arora Khan as his girlfriend Prerna; and Urmila Matondkar as Prerna too.

Sanjay Dutt, as Sattar Bhai, is the loan recovery guy who comes in their life to make matters better or worse. The film has a budding romance track between Sattar and Prerna, two interesting people who find love unexpectedly.

The film basically scores on two main counts - the basic idea and Sanjay Dutt! The songs are hummable and include the gamut of romantic and dance numbers.

'EMI' is a light-hearted take at an everyman's problem. The Indian urban youth appears quite excited with the movie EMI, and the concept of this necessary evil - something they can relate to!
