Essar launches steel centre at Oragadam

EssarEssar Steel started a new steel processing facility at Oragadam near Chennai investing Rs 75 crore in a bid to enhance its steel service center capacity to satisfy growing demand of steel from clients.

The new facility, located at the SIPCOT Industrial Growth Centre at Oragadam, was inaugurated by Mr. TS Narayanasami, CMD of Bank of India in the presence of Essar Group Chairman Mr. Shashi Ruia.

The company augmented its service capacity to more than two million tonnes from the current 1.2 million tones which would help to meet the increasing demand for customized products. The company is also working on two more such projects to offer products at economical rates to small and medium enterprises and capital goods segments.

Mr. Vikram Amin Executive Director Sales and Marketing of Essar Steel said, "This facility would offer customized products, mainly to leading vehicle manufacturers such as Ashok Leyland, TVS and Hyundai Motors, who are among the clientele." Ravi Singh, Vice President, Service Centre and Business Development, Essar Steel hailed the decision of company's management team for selection of Chennai for the center as the metropolitan city is well connected through rails, roads and sea links besides housing a growing market.
