'Mountain-sized' asteroid heading towards earth could be catastrophic

asteroidLondon, Dec 10 - Scientists have warned that a gigantic mountain-sized asteroid that is heading towards earth and could be catastrophic.

According to leading Russian scientist Vladimir Lipunov, asteroid called 2014 UR116 is on a collision course with Earth and he fears that the earth could be in danger of a devastating event, the Daily star reported.

Speaking in a recent documentary Lipunov said that people should track it constantly, because if they have a single mistake, there will be a catastrophe and the consequences can be very serious.

US steel industry criticises WTO ruling favouring India

Washington - The American steel industry today criticised a WTO ruling against the US imposing high duty on imports of certain Indian steel products, an order India hailed as a "significant victory" that will help its domestic manufacturers and exporters.

"The WTO decision today significantly weakens the effectiveness of US trade laws," said Thomas J Gibson, CEO and president of American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI).

AISI said the WTO Appellate Body ruled against the US government appeal of a challenge by India earlier this year regarding the International Trade Commission (ITC)'s practice of "cross-cumulating."

Google Nexus 6 to be available from today for Rs 43,999

New Delhi - Google Tuesday launched the Nexus 6 smartphone which will be available from Wednesday at a premium price of Rs 43,999 in the country.

The company launched the smartphone as part of its great online shopping festival (GOSF), that will take place from December 10-12.

Apart from Nexus 6, Google launched Chromecast for Rs 2,999 and introduced some other products of companies like Lenovo, Asian Paints, Tata Housing and Van Heusen for GOSF.

Sensex extends losses for 4th straight day; trading at 27,710

Mumbai - Continuing its falling streak for the fourth straight day, the benchmark BSE Sensex fell by nearly 87 points in early trade on Wednesday on sustained selling by funds and investors amid weak global cues.

The 30-share barometer, which lost 765.81 points in the previous three sessions, fell by 86.98 points, or 0.31 percent, to 27,710.03 in early trade.

On similar lines, the National Stock Exchange index Nifty declined by 9 points, or 0.11 percent, to 8,331.70.
