FCC Announces Timeout on Comcast-Time Warner Cable and AT&T-DirecTV mega-mergers

The US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) said that it will take some time before it announces a decision about the proposed merger Comcast and Time Warner Cable (TWC) and AT&T's acquiring DirecTV.

The agency said that it would announce the results of its three-month long review of both the mergers by the end of March, but now it has taken time-out due to legal issues. The companies involved in the mergers are not in the favor to release records of video-programming contracts with suppliers.

Hide-And-Seek Banned in IKEA Dutch Stores

Furniture major IKEA has banned people from playing hide-and-seek in its Dutch stores. Sky News has reported that the chain has banned the children's game, after thousands of people got engaged in it last year in Belgium.

According to one of the event's organizers, Elise De Rijck, people many a times were hiding in fridges, under stuffed toys and blue IKEA bags, and in the storage spaces under beds. Rijck added that no doubt it was really exhausting, but at the same time was so much fun.

In the meantime, IKEA was less enthusiastic. Martina Smedberg, IKEA Group spokeswoman, told reporters, "We need to make sure people are safe in our stores and that's hard to do if we don't even know where they are".

Adobe Reveals Its New Cloud Service ‘Document Cloud’

Software major Adobe has revealed its new Document Cloud, a cloud-based service for storing and sharing documents.

The San Jose-based company revealed that the service will most probably be launched in the next 30 days and will cost only $15 a month, unless a person already has a Creative Cloud or Acrobat subscription.

According to Adobe, Document Cloud represents the company's third major investment in the cloud, after the launch of its Creative Cloud, a design app suite, and Marketing Cloud, a bundle of marketing services.

As per experts, Adobe's this move shows that how dedicated the company is towards the PDF, a technology which the company first launched nearly 22 years ago.

Facebook Updates its ‘Community Standards’ Guidelines

On Monday, Facebook updated its 'community standards' guidelines. These guidelines will help provide more clarity to the users on what are the acceptable posts with regard to nudity, violence, hate speech and other such topics.

Facebook has made it clear that they have zero tolerance for the groups advocating terrorist activity, organized criminal activity or any activity that promotes hate. Facebook officials said that according to the new updated guidelines, Facebook with remove the graphic images if they are shared for negative pleasure or to celebrate violence.

Apple’s upcoming online TV service to offer around 25 channels

According to the Wall Street Journal, tech giant Apple is in talks with various programmers to offer a bundle of 25 channels online starting this year. Apple's streaming TV service will come with a $30 to $40 monthly subscription. The access to channels such as ABC, CBS and Fox will be offered to the users this fall.

However, Apple is not in talks with NBCUniversal, owner of the NBC broadcast network and cable channels like USA and Bravo, because of a falling-out between Apple and NBCUniversal parent company Comcast Corp.

Although, the tech giant was reportedly in early-stage discussions with Comcast a year ago to offer a streaming-television service that would allow Apple set-top boxes to bypass obstruction on the web. However, the negotiations failed.
