Gold settled down -0.73% at 27993 as speculation that the Federal Reserve will raise U. S. interest rates sooner than expected outweighed concerns that tensions between Ukraine and Russia will escalate. Gold, seen as a hedge against risk in times of uncertainty, jumped on Thursday as investors bought back their bearish bets in the metal and sought shelter from further turmoil in equities after a Malaysian airliner over Ukraine was shot down.

Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh government has approved a proposal for offering 26 percent stake to Europe's largest oil company Royal Dutch Shell in a gas project at Kakinada.

The AP government-owned AP Gas Infrastructure Corporation (APGIC) and state-owned GAIL floated AP Gas Distribution Company (APGDC) have set up a 3.5 million tonnes capacity (expandable up to 10 million tonnes) Floating LNG Storage Regasification Unit (FSRU) in the East Coast at Kakinada Deepwater Port.

Mumbai: Rubbishing allegations made against him by Narayan Rane, Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray on Saturday said the sulking Congress minister needs "consolation".

"He (Rane) needs consolation. I pray to God that he gets mental peace in a political party, whichever it may be," Uddhav told reporters at his residence Matoshree in suburban Bandra here.

He was speaking after Rane aide Ravindra Phatak, a Congress corporator from adjoining Thane, joined Shiv Sena along with six other Thane Congress corporators.

Mumbai: Shares in wind turbine maker Suzlon Energy Ltdsurged nearly 5 percent, its daily limit, on Monday following the government`s move to re-introduce the acceleraed depreciation scheme for the wind energy sector.

The gains add to Suzlon`s 3.6 percent gain in the previous session. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said on late Friday that the government would amend the Finance Bill in this regard.

New Delhi: State-owned SAIL and RINL together incurred average expenditure of more than Rs 7,000 crore towards maintenance of different plants in the last three financial years, the government said today.

Replying to queries on accidents at steel plants, the government told the Lok Sabha that all measures are being taken to prevent fatal incidents.

Accidents at steel plants are a "matter of concern" and the government is taking all measures to ensure security of people there, Steel Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said.
