India no longer a problem economy: Rajan

Raghuram-RajanMumbai: Reserve Bank Governor Raghuram Rajan on Tuesday said India has emerged from the perception of being in crisis and has placed itself as a better place to remain invested.

"I keep telling the international fora that India is not a problem any more. I think there was a perception problem (last year), but I think on Tuesday that perception also doesn't exist," Rajan said during the customary post-policy interaction with mediapersons at RBI headquarters here.

The central bank chose to keep all the key policy rates unchanged, except cutting SLR by 50 basis points to infuse liquidity.

Rupee up nine paise Vs dollar at 60.84 after RBI monetary policy

Rupee-upMumbai: The Indian rupee appreciated for the second straight session and ended nine paise higher at 60.84 against the US dollar on Tuesday on the back of rising local stock market and sustained dollar selling by exporters.

A firm dollar overseas ahead of service-sector and factory-order data restricted the rise to some extent, a forex dealer said.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Tuesday maintained its key rate as it is but slashed statutory liquidity ratio (SLR) by 0.5 percent to 22 percent to release about Rs 40,000 crore into the financial system.

Honda halts City production in Aug; to shift to Tapukara

HondaNew Delhi: Honda Cars India is temporarily suspending production of its flagship sedan City this month as it shifts manufacturing of the car to its Tapukara facility.

The company said it will resume production of the car that is being rolled out from its Greater Noida plant in the first week of next month.

"There will be no production of the Honda City in the month of August and the manufacturing of the car will resume in first week of September," Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) said in a statement.
