Earth’s oceans were ‘home-grown’, not from outer space

London, Sept 26 : Oceans on Earth were ‘home-grown’ and formed because the young planet had a thick blanket of hydrogen, which reacted with oxides in the mantle to form lakes and seas, Japanese planetary scientists have said.

The dominant view has been that Earth got its share of water from moisture-rich asteroids and comets that rained down on the planet during its formative years.

Kurko murder case: Shibu Soren to appear before Giridih court

Dumka, Sept 26 : Former Union Minister Shibu Soren will appear before a Giridih court today in connection with the 1974 Kurko murder case today.

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) chief Soren is an accuse along with some others, who had allegedly murdered Balbir Rai of Kurko village in Giridih District, for killing a goat.

Earlier, Additional Sessions and District Judge R M Tiwari had posted the case for today as none of the witnesses came to court. However, Soren appeared before the court.

Mumbai, Sept. 26 : The victorious Indian Twenty20 World Cup team led by skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni today arrived at Sahar International Airport.

Thousands gathered at the airport to get the first glimpse of Team India, and the prestigious Twenty20 Championship trophy.
