Strong sales during the post-Christmas season following positive data from the market have helped push Dow and S&P 500 higher.

Retail stocks rose this holiday season as data from MasterCard Advisors SpendingPulse showed that sales rose 2.3 per cent between 1 November and 24 December, 2013. The strong data has dismissed suggestions that the retail market has remained weak this year.

Los Angeles, Dec 27 : Male celebrities like Will Smith and Justin Timberlake experimented with pop colours and slipped into chic suits during 2013.

- Will Smith: Even at the age of 45, Smith looked good in simple silhouettes, pops of colour and even some sneakers.

- Justin Timberlake: The singer once known for curly locks, straightened his hair. The pop icon also chose suit and tie for most events.

New Delhi, Dec 27 : The stage is set for a new and exciting chapter in India's political history to unfold here as Aam Admi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal, who stunned everyone with his party's electoral success, will take oath as Delhi's seventh chief minister along with six ministers at the Ramlila Maidan Saturday.

Markets were on the positive note throughout the day with buying visible at lower levels. Sensex traded well above the 21200 mark & Nifty was trading above 6300. It was an encouraging start for the new series of F&O segment as it was the first day for the Jan 2014 contract.

Markets remained choppy, market's full  focus was  on the derivative expiry on Thursday, rupee movement against the dollar amid other global cues. Nifty Dec Fut  started its journey with bullish sentiment, it managed to hit 6383 mark and closed at 6370 on a positive note with the gain of 77.85 bps led by the rupee getting stronger at 62.30  per dollar.

New Delhi, Dec 27 : A day after an Ahmedabad court dismissed a plea in a case relating to the 2002 Gujarat communal riots, the state's Chief Minister Narendra Modi Friday said he was "shaken to core" by the sectarian clashes.

Modi, in a blog published Friday, called the post-Godhra riots a "crippling blow to an already shattered and hurting Gujarat".

Published a day after an Ahmedabad court upheld closure of a Supreme Court appointed Special Investigation Team's report on the riots, Modi said he wanted to share his "inner thoughts and feelings with the nation at large".
