Aararo, Aararo" sung by her, perhaps has robbed Carnatic music vocalist Bombay Jayashri Ramnath of her sleep, what with the excitement of being nominated for the Oscar. More importantly, it has reinforced her faith in the reach of Indian classical music.

Written, composed and sung by Ramnath, "Pi Lullaby" from the Hollywood film "Life of Pi", has been nominated in the best music original song category for the 85th Academy Awards.

Nuri Sahin returns to Borussia Dortmund

/Nuri-SahinBerlin, Jan 12 : Reigning Bundesliga champions Borussia Dortmund brought back Turkish midfielder Nuri Sahin on long-term loan following a disappointing spell at Real Madrid, the club announced.

Nuri Sahin left Borussia Dortmund after the title-winning season 2010-2011 to sign a contract with Real Madrid until 2017, reports Xinhua.

However, he made little impact at Real Madrid, as he was unable to break into the starting lineup due to injuries. In addition the 24-year-old Turkish international was loaned out to English club Liverpool where he became a bench warmer due to limited playing time.

French motorcyclist Bourgin dies in Dakar accident

Thomas-BourginSantiago, Jan 12 : French motorcyclist Thomas Bourgin of KTM team died in an accident on a highway in northern Chile during the Dakar Rally.

According to police sources in Calama city, Bourgin died on Route 27 Friday, a highway linking San Pedro Atacama and Jama, after he crashed his motorcycle into a police vehicle, reports Xinhua.

It was the first time that the 25-year-old Bourgin, who occupied position 68 in the general table, competed in the race. He was also the youngest French participant in Dakar Rally.

Iran condemns bomb attacks in Pakistan

At least 116 people were killed and 235 others injured in four blasts in Pakistan Thursday. Three blasts hit Quetta city in Balochistan province, bordering Afghanistan and Iran, while another occurred in Swat Valley in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
