Controversial Italian Prime minister, Silvio Berlusconi has said that said he will resign after an austerity package passes in the country’s Parliament next week.

He has seen several defections among supporters in the last few days over political uncertainties ever after Berlusconi managed to win a vote of confidence recently. The defections caused the government to miss having a majority in a budget vote. However, it passed due to abstentions.

Maroni expressed his concern Monday about the lapse in security after meeting senior police and political leaders in the city to discuss the incident.
