Controversial Italian Prime minister, Silvio Berlusconi has said that said he will resign after an austerity package passes in the country’s Parliament next week.
He has seen several defections among supporters in the last few days over political uncertainties ever after Berlusconi managed to win a vote of confidence recently. The defections caused the government to miss having a majority in a budget vote. However, it passed due to abstentions.

London, Sept 16 : Silvio Berlusconi hired more than 30 women, most of them prostitutes, to attend his infamous ‘bunga bunga’ parties at his mansion in Rome, Italian investigators said on Thursday.
Prosecutors presented the results of a two-year investigation into claims that Mr Berlusconi entertained what the Italian press describe as “a harem” of young models, actresses and starlets at his private residence in Rome in 2008 and 2009, reports the Telegraph.

Italian media say Berlusconi, 73, is working on a new CD of songs with Mariano Apicella, a guitarist who has accompanied him on three albums before, reports the Telegraph.
The daily Corriere della Serra claimed in a report: "In 2010, there will be a new record, the fourth, of the musical duo Berlusconi and (guitarist Mariano) Apicelli...."

London, December 18 : Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has come out of the hospital, after being admitted for four days following an attack at a rally in Milan.
The leader had his nose bandaged and a compress on his left cheek, but he had words of conviction, as he thanked the doctors who treated him.
“I will have two memories from these days — the hatred of a few and the love of many, so many Italians,” Timesonline quoted him as saying.

The electronics engineer, who has been kept in solitary confinement after punching the premiere with a marble and metal souvenir, told police that he hated the Prime Minister because “that man is ruining Italy. I don’t agree with anything he says”, reports The Times.

Milan, Dec 15 : Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi will have to spend a third night in hospital recovering from being hit in the face by an attacker, and will be discharged Wednesday, the premier's doctor said Tuesday.
Doctors have also advised Berlusconi to "refrain from public engagements for at least two weeks," Doctor Alberto Zangrillo said, citing a medical report issued by the San Raffaele Hospital in Milan.
