Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, on Saturday, was taken to AIIMS for a routine health check up.

The 84-year-old Vajpayee has been admitted to AIIMS nearly three weeks after getting discharged from the hospital.

Dr. D K Sharma, Medical Superintendent AIIMS, said, “He will stay in the hospital for two days during which these follow-up tests will be conducted for him.”

The senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader was admitted to AIIMS Feb 3 following complaints of a chest infection.

He was kept on ventilator support after his condition deteriorated following a lung infection.

On February 13, doctors also conducted tracheotomy to ease his respiration process.

After about a month-long treatment, doctors declared him fit to go home on March 1.
