54th Filmfare Awards Announced; Jodha Akbar Bags 5 AwardsAmidst much pomp and grandeur, the 54th Idea Filmfare Awards 2008 have been announced on the 28th February 2009 at Yash Raj Studios in Mumbai.

The much awaited awards when stars, celebs and the best talents of the Hindi film industry (Bollywood) walked the red carpet with anticipation and expectations to make out who would take the ‘Black Lady’ home.

Ranbir Kapoor and Imran Khan hosted the splendid event studded with different star performances that showcased the real colors of ‘Bollywood’.

The main highlights of the evening were the alluring performances by svelte Katrina Kaif, muti-talented Abhishek Bachchan, chocolate boy Shahid Kapoor, brilliant Farhan Akhtar, hot Bipasha Basu, suave Neil Nitin Mukesh and many others.

Jackie Bhagnani made his debut performance at the awards night, thus making way into Bollywood stardom.

In the Awards section, filmstars Hrithik Roshan and Priyanka Chopra have been declared Best Actor and Best Actress for their roles in ‘Jodha Akbar’and ‘Fashion’.

Jodhaa Akbar won five awards under different categories including Best Film, Best Director (Ashutosh Gowariker) and Best Lyrics (Javed Akhtar).

Small budget-wonder ‘Oye Lucky, Lucky Oye’ and Musical sensation ‘Rock On’ stood out as the Technical winners.

At the glittering show, A R Rahman, the first Indian to win 2 Oscars, got the ‘Best Music Director award for ‘Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na’ and Best Background music for ‘Jodha Akbar’.

The best critics award went to Nishikanth Kamath’s directed ‘Mumbai Meri Jaan’.

The award for the Best Female Debutante goes to Asin Thottumkal for ‘Ghajini’, while Farhan Aktar and Imran Khan shared the Best Male Debutante award for their superb performances in ‘Rock On’ and ‘Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na’.

Sukhwinder Singh has been adjudged as the Best Male Playback Singer for ‘Haule Haule’ from (Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi) and Shreya Ghosal won the Best Female Playback Singer award for ‘Teri Ore’ (Singh is Kinng).
