Nikon announces fastest AF-S DX 35mm f1.8 G lens Nikon toady made announcement regarding its AF-S DX 35mm f1.8 G lens, which is basically a "fast-fifty" for DX shooters and a fast aperture prime lens with a DX equivalent focal length of 52mm. Thus it replaces the classic 50mm focal length, long a standard in photography for having a field of vision similar to the human eye.

This new lens by Nikon is perfect for low light shooting, and it also supports a narrow depth-of-field for portraits or anytime the photographer want to haze the background. The latest lens that features Nikon's Silent Wave Motor for fast and quiet auto focusing also has a closest focusing distance of 11.7 inches. The fast f1.8 aperture is compact and lightweight at 7 ounces.

The chromatic aberration and lens flare is reduced by the Nikon's Super Integrated Coating on the lens. Moreover, a more pleasant look to its out of focus background elements is added to it by a rounded diaphragm with a 9 blade aperture for a nice bokeh.

The latest Nikon AF-S 35mm f1.8 G lens, that is supposed to hit the market by March 2009, could be availed at an attractive estimated price of $199.95.
