Hawkwatch observers see Turkey Vultures making their way Home after Winter in South America

Mike Street saw turkey vultures making their way home after spending a winter in sunny South America. To saw more closely, Street took his binoculars and pointed it towards the sky.

Street has been watching such birds from last four decades as a hawk watcher. Many volunteers count the number of eagles, turkey vultures and several other kinds of hawks that pass across Niagara heading for summer ranges. For Street, events like annual hawk are about collecting raw data about the bird. According to Street, such events help in understanding how the world has been changing.

NASA and ESA Join Hands for asteroid Mission

The American space agency NASA is planning to test out a method to prevent an asteroid impact by launching a non-explosive spacecraft into a nearby asteroid.

The European Space Agency's (ESA) and NASA will be jointly working on this mission. ESA has recently started the development of a non-explosive spacecraft, reported Discovery News.

But so far it seems that the mission will not be launched until 2022. The major goal of the mission will be to check if there are any plausible ways to eliminate other future threats from asteroids.

Collaboratively NASA and the ESA have already started their work on the Asteroid Impact & Deflection Assessment mission.

American President Barack Obama said that moon is no longer a destination for American astronauts. But recently a senior astronaut with the American space agency NASA said that the agency is planning to set a base for a future mission to Mars.

According to William Gerstenmaier, the chief of human exploration for National Aeronautics and Space Administration, journey to such a far located planet Mars is not feasible.

He said journey to Mars will take nearly 900 days. Rather William said that it will be more feasible for the agency if they utilize the moon.

Astronauts can use the large ice at the lunar poles and convert it to a reservoir of oxygen and hydrogen fuel that can be used to propel rockets towards Mars, he said.
