Breast milk bought over Internet could be mixed with Cows’ Milk

A new study has suggested that about 10% of breast milk purchased over the Internet is mixed with cows' milk. As per the health experts associated with the study, the results raise concerns about the safety of breast milk sold on the Internet.

A group of scientists who two years ago found very high levels of dangerous bacteria and other micro-organisms in breast milk sold online has carried out this study. The scientists said that providing baby breast milk that comes from somebody other than his own mother is a centuries' old practice.

Certain Fish Oils may develop Resistance to Chemotherapy in Cancer Patients

A journal JAMA Oncology-published research has unveiled that certain fish oils and fish oil supplements may increase the risk for cancer patients by developing resistance to chemotherapy.

The researchers said the fish oils have been found to be having 16:4(n-3) in significant amount. It is a fatty acid having strong chemotherapy-negating effects that have been seen in pre-clinical models.

In an experiment, it has been found that low dose of fish oil interfered with chemotherapy activity in mice. Study’s co-author Dr. Emilie E. Voest with the Netherlands Cancer Institute in Amsterdam said that there is an increasing concern that use of supplements and anticancer drugs may have negative influence on the treatment result.

Packaged and Processed Foods contain too Much Salt

The United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued a warning where it stated that packaged and processed foods contain huge amount of salt. According to the federal agency, producers have been constantly ignoring the fact that higher salt intake leads to serious health issues.

The high amount of salt in food could lead to increase in blood pressure or hypertension, which further leads to stroke and heart attacks. In addition, consuming high amount of salt is linked to stomach cancer, obesity, osteoporosis, kidney stones and many other diseases.

French Parliament accepts Amendment making it Crime to Use Anorexic Models

France's parliament has taken a step as per which it would be a crimes to hire anorexic models or encourage anorexia. France is not alone in this initiative as Israel and Spain have already taken these steps.

Matter inside Black Holes Is Not Lost Forever, Claims Study

For the past several decades, scientists have argued on the point that anything that enters a black hole is lost. They also though that black holes absorb information and disappear afterwards without leaving behind any traces of what they might have contained.

But a recently conducted study claims that the matter that gets absorbed by the black holes is not lost forever.

It is known that Stephen Hawking proposed the theory that matter gets destroyed after entering a black hole.

According to Hawking, as black holes emit radiation energy it is natural that they would in the end exhaust and evaporate. But the rules of quantum mechanics state that all information must be conserved, which contradicts the Hawking's theory.

NASA to Host International Space Apps Challenge

It has been reported that NASA's Glenn Research Center in Cleveland will for the first time host the International Space Apps Challenge, a global, mass collaboration that gathers volunteer participants to work on specific NASA challenges.

Sean Gallagher, Glenn's chief information officer, said in a press release that teams of tech-savvy citizens in Northeast Ohio are willing to present their innovative ideas on how NASA can be able to solve specific mission challenges.

NASA's Glenn Research Center has joined hands with OHTec, formerly NEOSA, in order to host the Space Apps Challenge.

The event will take place on April 10-12 in Glenn's new Mission Integration Center in Brook Park.
