New Delhi, Apr 3 : Senior Congress leader and Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma has urged people not to waste their votes on political party that is not beneficial to the country.

"Make sure that this time your votes do not get wasted. Those votes, which will not come in our favour, will strengthen some other party which will not be beneficial for the country," said Sharma.

Meanwhile, BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar has asserted that governance under leadership of Narendra Modi can put an end to misrule of Congress party.

Rio de Janeiro, April 3 - Brazilian giants Fluminense have announced Cristovao Borges as their new coach, replacing former Brazil international winger Renato Gaucho.

Gaucho was dismissed Wednesday following the team's elimination from the Rio de Janeiro state championship by rivals Vasco da Gama, reported Xinhua.

Borges, 54, who last year coached Bahia, began his managerial career at Vasco da Gama in 2011.

He is a former player at Fluminense, and helped the club win the Rio championship in 1980.

Washington, April 3 - The US space agency -- NASA -- has suspended all contacts with its Russian counterpart Roscosmos except for ongoing activities aboard the International Space Station (ISS).

"This suspension includes NASA travel to Russia and visits by Russian Government representatives to NASA facilities, bilateral meetings, e-mail, and teleconferences or video conferences," Xinhua reported quoting an internal letter published by the US space news website Spaceref Wednesday, citing US-Russian tensions over Ukraine and Crimea.

London, April 3 - Singer Elton John, who will exchange wedding vows with partner David Furnish in May, says that they will "celebrate" the law allowing same-sex marriage with their marriage.

John and Furnish entered into a civil partnership back in 2005 but want to make it official now that same-sex marriage is legal in England.

United Nations, April 3 - UN Secretary-General Ban Ki- moon Wednesday called for more countries to join the Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) to facilitate its entry into force.

Ban made the appeal in a statement to mark the first anniversary of the adoption of the treaty, which he said "for the first time sets global standards for the transfer of weapons and efforts to prevent their diversion", Xinhua reported.

The treaty was adopted by a vote in the 193-member UN General Assembly April 2, 2013. North Korea, Iran and Syria voted against the measure, while Cuba, India, Russia and China were among the abstaining states.
