Paris (France) May 26 : Roger Federer outclassed Lukas Lacko to claim an easy straight-sets win in the first round of the 2014 French Open Championships being played at the Roland Garros on Sunday.

The 17-time Grand Slam winner, seeded four, was barely tested in his 6-2 6-4 6-2 victory over the Slovakian. The Swiss, knocked out in the quarter-final by Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in 2013, will face Diego Sebastian Schwartzman for a place in the last 32 following the Argentine's 6-4 6-2 7-5 win over Gastao Elias of Portugal.

New Delhi, May 26 - Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Narendra Modi will be sworn in as India's 15th Prime Minister at a grand function in the forecourt of the majestic Rashtrapati Bhawan on Monday evening.

All arrangements for the swearing-in ceremony of 63-year-old Modi , who led BJP to an astounding victory in the Lok Sabha polls, have been made. It is expected that nearly 3,000 guests, including seven SAARC Heads of Government, will attend the landmark event.

Monaco, May 26 - Nico Rosberg beat Mercedes team-mate Lewis Hamilton in a tense fight for victory in the Monaco Grand Prix on Sunday.

Alba, 33, is raising daughters - Honor, 5, and two-and-a-half-year-old Haven - with husband Cash Warren, 35. Now Alba is apparently telling friends that she's against the modern trend of parents hiring total strangers.

Kiev, May 26 - "Chocolate King" Petro Poroshenko has won Sunday's presidential election in Ukraine with an absolute majority, exit polls showed.

Poroshenko won 55.9 percent of the vote, former prime minister Yulia Tymoshenko 12.9 percent of the vote, and Oleh Lyashko, 8 percent, Xinhua reported citing the national exit poll.

Another exit poll, conducted by the TNS pollster at television channels' order, indicates that Poroshenko got 57.3 percent of the vote, Tymoshenko 12.4 percent and Lyashko 8.7 percent.

Kabul, May 26 - US President Barack Obama paid a surprise visit to Afghanistan Sunday, an Afghan official said.

The US president arrived in the Bagram air base in north of Kabul, the main US base in Afghanistan, late Sunday, Xinhua quoted an official source as saying on condition of anonymity.

The aim of his trip is reported to meet American soldiers on a memorial day weekend and he will also visit the injured soldiers who got wounded in Afghanistan conflicts.

Obama is not planning to meet President Hamid Karzai and the two leading presidential candidates of upcoming presidential runoff, the media reported.
