Bharti Airtel rejigs top team in African operations

Bharti-AirtelNew Delhi, Feb 5 : In pursuit of its growth agenda, telecom service provider Bharti Airtel Wednesday announced a rejig of its top team at Airtel Africa.

V. G. Somasekhar has been appointed executive operations director of the strategic business unit (SBU) clustering Zambia, Congo B, Malawi, Burkina, Niger, Chad, Madagascar and Seychelles. Somasekhar has been managing director for Airtel Uganda since December 2010, a company statement here said.

Bharti Airtel is a telecommunications service provider with operations in 20 countries across Asia and Africa.

Sensex closes 49 points up

Sensex closes 49 points upMumbai, Feb 5 : A benchmark index of Indian equities markets Wednesday closed 49 points or 0.24 percent up, recouping earlier losses.

Good buying was seen in auto, metal and IT sectors, while selling pressure was observed in fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) scrips.

The 30-scrip S&P Sensex of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 20,241.12 points, closed at 20,261.03 points, up 49.10 points or 0.24 percent from its previous day close at 20,211.93 points.

The Sensex touched a high of 20,289.33 points and a low of 20,076.10 points intra-day.

Etihad Airways announces new sales region

This brings to seven the number of geographical regions that make up the airline's global sales structure.

The other regions include the United Arab Emirates, the Middle East, North Africa and Levant, Europe, the Americas, Asia Pacific North and the Indian Subcontinent, and Asia Pacific South and Australasia.
