Washington, Dec 31 : The year 2013 ended on a positive note for Nokia as it controlled the lion's share of Windows Phone hardware.

The month ended for Nokia a few points up at 92.1 percent. Its Lumia 520 handset continues to dominate, with a new high of 39.3 percent share.

According to Techcrunch, Windows Phone 8 grew against the now-fading Windows 7. x system, with record relative market share of 78.3 percent.

Worldwide, only the Lumia 920 makes the top 10 list for usage among all Windows Phone handsets.

Consumer electronics giant LG is preparing to unveil its first webOS-based smart TV as soon as next week, according to industry sources.

Citing anonymous industry sources, the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported that LG will take wraps off its webOS-powered TV at the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), which will take place from 7th of January through 10th of January in Las Vegas.

A record number of apps were downloaded on Christmas Day this year but the rate of growth slowed from the previous year, according to a report published recently by the Los Angeles Times.

Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Jio Infocomm has opposed GSM companies' demand for flat spectrum usage charge, arguing any change in spectrum use charge (SUC) for BWA (broadband wireless) spectrum would be illegal.

Reliance Jio said in a statement, "Unilateral increase in SUC for BWA spectrum from 1 per cent to 3 per cent will be illegal. The government may take appropriate decisions on SUC for the forthcoming auctions but without altering the present regime."

The BBC's ' Dolphins: Spy in the Pod' used cameras strapped to submersibles and surprisingly found that a group of young dolphins were getting high' on a puffer fish's toxins, Metro. co. uk reported.

The toxin, in large doses, is capable of killing, but in small doses it acts as a narcotic.

Zoologist Rob Pilley, who worked on the series, told the Sunday Times that young dolphins were deliberately experimenting with something they know to be intoxicating.
