SC stays Panipat-Jalandhar highway hand-over to NH

Panipat-Jalandhar-highwayNew Delhi, June 12 : The Supreme Court Wednesday suspended the Punjab and Haryana High Court order directing the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) to take over 291-km Panipat-Jalandhar highway project as buiders had failed to complete it within the scheduled time.

Suspending the operation of the high court order till the hearing of the matter July 23, a bench of Justice Gyan Sudha Misra and Justice Madan B. Lokur issued notice to the central and Haryana governments, the National Highway Authority of India and others.

High public turnout in the election will enable the next president to stand firm and strong against enemies, Khamenei was quoted as saying.

"The international scene is not the scene of hesitation and shyness and the more you show weakness and withdraw, the more the enemies will move forward," he said, persuading people to decisively cast their ballot.

Punjab-J&K gas pipeline gets clearance

Governor N. N. Vohra cleared the ordinance to lay the Rs. 8.50 billion gas pipeline, government sources said.

"The issuance of the ordinance had become necessary because a bill to this effect could not be tabled by the government in the budget session of the state legislature earlier this year," a source said.

Italy to continue Afghan commitment after 2014: Defence minister

Mario-MauroRome, June 12 :  The new Italian government will continue its participation in the NATO-led International Security Assistance Forces (ISAF) mission in Afghanistan until 2014 and afterwards will commit to training of the Afghan forces, Defense Minister Mario Mauro said Wednesday.

The Italian government intends to "continue its participation in the ISAF mission in Afghanistan ending it as scheduled in 2014," the minister said, reported Xinhua.
