The Prime Ministerial candidate for BJP and the party’s senior leader, L K Advani – who was in Chennai in connection with the release of the Tamil version of his autobiography - met Tamil superstar Rajinikanth on Wednesday.

Advani was accompanied by his close friend Cho S Ramasamy, the state BJP president L. Ganesan and Former union minister Thirunavukkarasar.

The meeting, at the actor’s Chennai residence, raised many eyebrows in Tamil Nadu, as BJP sources say Advani and Rajini discussed politics. However, Rajini’s office refused to divulge any details.

Advani told the media: “Rajini has been pressing me for a long time to visit his place and we had tea. I told him I have noticed your statement, that you will enter politics when God asks you to. I said I appreciated it.”

Advani also admitted that he had had a long discussion with the actor about the current political affairs and requested Rajini to extend his political support to the BJP in the forthcoming General Elections. Tamil Nadu happens to be a state where the BJP lacks a base, and has been unable to make any dent in the land of Dravidian politics.

In fact, the meeting comes at a time when Rajini’s fans are pressurizing the superstar to enter politics. Though the actor has not yielded to the pressure, he had promised his fans he would undertake a tour of the state to meet them. At the same time, sources close to the star reveal that he does not intend giving his support to any particular party.
