Shiv Nadar-led HCL Corp has refuted media reports that the company has plans to exit from its information technology subsidiary HCL Technologies Ltd.

Citing unnamed sources, some media channels recently reported that HCL Founder Shiv Nadar was mulling a plan to sell his stake in HCL Technology for $10 billion.

But the company refuted the reports, saying there was no plan to sell its controlling stake in the information technology service provider.

Australian airline Qantas is widely expected to cut thousands of jobs as part of its desperate move to slash costs by $2 billion over the next three years.

In December last year, Qantas warned it could report a half-year loss of up to $300 million, which could force it to cut a huge number of jobs. At that time, it pegged the potential job cuts at around 1,000 this year.

The Canadian dollar slipped on Friday after official figures showed a considerable month-on-month decline in December retail sales.

According to fresh data released by Statistics Canada, retail sales in December slipped 1.8 per cent from the previous month.  On a seasonally adjusted basis, home furnishings and furniture stores suffered a month-on-month decline of 7.8 per cent in sales; while sales of new cars fell 3.6 per cent in the month under review.

New Delhi, Feb 22 : The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) Saturday recommended auction of CDMA or 800 MHz band airwaves at Rs. 2,685 crore per megahertz reserve price, an official release said here.

The recommendation said the entire available spectrum with the Department of Telecom (DoT) in the 800 MHz band should be put to auction. "The authority recommends that the reserve price for the forthcoming auction of 800 MHz spectrum should be fixed at 80 percent of the average valuation," the recommendation said.

New Delhi, Feb 22 : General Motors India Saturday launched a new variant of its Sail hatchback and sedan.

The new hatchback is priced between Rs. 4.21 lakh and Rs. 6.54 lakh, while the sedan is priced at Rs. 5.07-7.45 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

He will meet Frenchman Tristan Flore in the final Sunday. Flore defeated Benjamin Brossier in an all-French semifinal encounter 11-2, 11-9, 12-10, 11-3.

Desai's victory Friday night was even sweeter as he accounted for the Brazilian who defeated compatriot Soumyajit Ghosh, the No. 5 seed, 11-8, 11-8, 5-11, 11-9, 11-4 in the quarterfinals.
