Winehouse bags best female UK artist prize at MOBO, Vodafone Live Music Awards

London, Sept 20 : Days after she missed out on the Mercury Prize, Amy Winehouse has bagged the best female UK artist prize at both the MOBO awards and Vodafone Live Music Awards held on Sept 19.

At the MOBO awards, the soul star beat the likes of artists like Jamelia and Joss Stone to pick up the award.

Winehouse was up for awards in four categories in total- best UK female, best R&B act, best song for ‘Rehab’ and best video for ‘Back to Black’.

‘My early work was a pile of crap,’ says Katie Melua

Sept 20 : British singer Katie Melua thinks that her early musical work with mentor/composer Mike Batt was ‘a pile of crap’.

Melua, who collaborated with Batt for making albums such as ‘Call Off The Search’, ‘Piece By Piece’ and the forthcoming ‘Pictures’, asserted that she learnt a lot while working with her mentor.

However, the 23-year-old star insisted that her old work was not up to the mark and she wants to move on with her career creatively now.

Alicia Silverstone bares all to give vegetarianism a boost

London, Sep 20 : Actress Alicia Silverstone has stripped naked to encourage vegetarianism.

The ‘Clueless’ actress, who was voted sexiest female vegetarian in 2004, took off all her clothes for the 30-second TV commercial for the goveg.com campaign launched by the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA).

The ad begins with Silverstone sensually pulling herself out of a swimming pool, carefully hiding her modesty with her arms.

Bret Ratner, Chris Tucker reteam for ‘Mr. S: My Life With Frank Sinatra’

Washington, Sept 20 : After the ‘Rush Hour’ movies, director Brett Ratner and actor Chris Tucker will be teaming up once again for New Line’s "Mr. S: My Life With Frank Sinatra".

The studio has picked up the rights to George Jacobs’ biography, and Ratner is attached to direct.

Tucker is said to be keen on getting the role of George Jacobs, Sinatra’s valet from 1953-68.

Bette Midler, Carrie Fisher join ‘The Women’ cast

Washington, Sept 20 : Bette Midler and Carrie Fisher have signed up to star in "The Women".

Also joining the cast are Cloris Leachman, Joanna Gleason, Lynn Whitfield, Debi Mazar and Ana Gasteyer.

The stars will now be joining the already confirmed cast of Meg Ryan, Annette Bening, Eva Mendes, Debra Messing, Jada Pinkett-Smith and Candice Bergen, reports Variety.

The Diane English-directed pic has Ryan, Bening, Mendes, Messing, Pinkett-Smith and Bergen play friends who discover the pal they envied most is being cheated on by her husband.
