Hyderabad, Jan 17 : Police began questioning Hindu religious leader Swami Kamlananda Bharati in connection with a hate speech he delivered at a rally here last week.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) took custody of Bharati Thursday morning from Cherlapally Jail.

A city court Wednesday had sent Bharati to two days police custody while dismissing his bail petition. The questioning will continue Friday.

Bharati, president of Hindu Devalaya Parirakshana Samithi, which works for protecting Hindu temples, was arrested Monday in Srisailam and brought to Hyderabad.

Chennai, Jan 17 : Asian power equipment major Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) will be accorded Maharatna status with the Committee of Secretaries clearing the proposal, Heavy Industries Minister Praful Patel Wednesday.

Addressing employees of BHEL's boiler plant at Tiruchirapalli, Patel said that BHEL was amongst the finest companies, not only in India but in the world. A company statement quoted the minister as saying that BHEL's 49,000 strong technical, educated and committed workforce hailing from all parts of the country was one of the biggest assets the nation could have.

Mumbai, Jan 17: Hoping to connect with the youth, Yuva Sena chief Aditya Thackeray, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray's son, will embark on a statewide tour, the party said here Thursday.

He will starting from Mahad town in Raigad in coastal Konkan region. Aditya will address meetings of youth, attempting to understand their problems and provide solutions.

He will also conduct road shows targeting the youth from all sections of society in the Raigad tour, which will end Monday evening in Khalapur.
