Sheryl Sandberg joins board of her late husband’s company SurveyMonkey

According to reports, Facebook Inc.'s Chief Operating Officer (COO) Sheryl Sandberg has joined the board of SurveyMonkey. Her late husband, Dave Goldberg, was running the online polling company.

David Ebersman, the chief executive officer (CEO) of behavioural health company Lyra Health and the former chief financial officer of Facebook, was also added in SurveyMonkey, which is valued at $2 billion. Ebersman was managing the company through its initial public offering (IPO) in 2012.

On Monday, the new appointments were announced in an update to the website of the company. The board is also carrying out a search to appoint new CEO. Goldberg died in a treadmill accident, when he was on vacation with his wife in Mexico.

12 Largest Banks of US Forced To Resubmit Their Plans for Navigating a Bankruptcy

Federal banking regulators said in a statement that 12 largest banks of the United States have resubmitted their plans for navigating a bankruptcy that would not require a taxpayer bailout.

This is the third time that banks were forced to resubmit their plans, which clearly details their strategy for a rapid and orderly bankruptcy as required by the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act.

The Federal Reserve Board and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) said Monday that they will start review of their new plans as soon as possible.

US Army Develops Exoskeleton to Help Soldiers learn Marksmanship Skills

As per reports, US Army has developed an exoskeleton which can be worn over the arm. The exoskeleton will help future soldiers to develop their marksmanship skills without the long duration of training typically involved.

The mechatronic arm exoskeleton is presently in its testing stage and will prove to be a potential future training tool. Maker of the exoskeleton said that its benefits would exceed the speed of skill acquisition.

The exoskeleton helps stabilize the solider's arm while aiming, with a series of sensors monitoring any slight tremor that can then be corrected, while still allowing full freedom of movement.

Some other benefits of these future tools include benefits like reducing the amount of ammunition used during training, thereby reducing training costs.

Number of people with Dementia sets to Rise in Wales

Alzheimer's Society has come up with a new report, titled, The Hidden Cost of Dementia in Wales. For the first time, it has been unveiled how much the state has been bearing due to dementia. Dementia costs an estimated £1.4bn every year to Welsh economy.

The report has unveiled that 850,000 people have dementia in the UK. In 2013, dementia cost in Wales was around £31,300 per person per year. Sue Phelps, director of Alzheimer's Society in Wales, said that the report indicates that Wales need to have a clear national dementia planning.

Memcomputers can store data and Process the same simultaneously

Researchers at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) has designed a new type of computer, memcomputer. This computer will not only store information, but would also process it in the same place, known as collective state.

Lead researcher Professor Massimiliano Di Ventra said that in the name of a prototype, they do not have much more than a Proof Of Concept (POC). But the new design is based in part the way human brain works.

Ventra has agreed that there are many issues that they need to sort out before memcomputer can be manufactured. It is not the first time when the concept of memcomputers has been introduced. For the first time, the concept was presented in the 1970s.

Squirrels adapt tactics to Improve Efficiency and have more Rewards

A novel study by the University of Exeter has unveiled that grey squirrels are very quick learners. They can learn to use tactics that can improve their efficiency and provide them best results.

The research team from the University of Exeter conducted an experiment to test intelligence and mental flexibility of squirrels. The researchers took five squirrels to see how these rodents react to a task having a box with 12 sunken wells. Out of them, four were hollow.

Hazelnuts were placed in the four hollow wells and they were placed diagonally across each other. It was the least efficient way to find out food and also, to check every well in clockwise or anti-clockwise position.
