Retailers in the UK recorded strong sales during the post-Christmas shopping season as 13million shoppers rushed to shops to get attractive holiday deals.

According to estimates, shoppers are expected to spend around £1.8 billion today. It is believed that a total of £2.57 billion was projected to have been spent on December 27, which is 7.1 per cent higher than the £2.4 billion recorded in the previous year, according to the Centre for Retail Research. The total expenditure rose to £3 billon, which is higher than £2.8 billion, which was a previous record that was held by Boxing Day this week and December

According to a new report, London borough of Kensington and Chelsea hosts six out of the ten most expensive streets in England and Wales.

Egerton Crescent in South Kensington has been identified as the most expensive place in the country for the second year. The report released by the Lloyds Bank has shown that homes on the street have a typical cost of around £7.4 million. The street is located near to the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) and Harrods and hosts lavish properties including Grade II-listed Georgian homes boasting four or five bedrooms.

Mumbai, Dec 28 - Veteran Bollywood actor Farooque Sheikh died of a sudden cardiac arrest in Dubai late Friday, his long-time co-star and friend Deepti Naval said.

"I don't have the details yet, and I have not been able to speak to any of his family members, but a friend confirmed it to me. I also spoke to Shabana Azmi who was also aware of the sad, shocking and unbelievable news," Naval told IANS.

Sheikh is known for his roles in "Chashme Budoor", "Saath Saath" among others.

Johannesburg, Dec 28 - Swiss tennis ace Roger Federer has announced that former Swedish tennis player Stefan Edberg will join his coaching team in the New Year.

Federer made the announcement on his Facebook page, saying that Edberg will join long-time coach, Severin Luthi, as part of his team in time for the start of the year's first Grand Slam, the Australian Open .

The "Girls" actress, famed for playing ditzy Shoshanna on the HBO show, admires high-end designers such as Carven, Honour and Rebecca Minkoff for their head-turning designs, but she is unwilling to dress herself in items that feel too restricting.
