New Horizons Team plans to resume Normal Operations for probe by July 7

On July 4, NASA's New Horizons spacecraft lost contact with mission control for an hour and 21 minutes. NASA said the reason for the loss of contact is not known for now and the spacecraft went into safe mode. But now, the mission control has said that it plans to get back to normal operations on July 7.

NASA said the incident will not affect the plan of the mission's July 14 flyby. Engineers are in touch with the probe again but the agency stated that it will take many days before the probe gets back to its normal routine.

The spacecraft is approaching Pluto and is currently, 11 kms from Pluto and move fast. It is not the first time when New Horizons has lost contact. In March 2007, a memory error took place that led the spacecraft go into safe mode.

Some Spider species can sail across the Ocean

British researchers have carried out a study to know the way spiders move themselves across water. The researchers said spiders can travel across water like ships. Spiders use their legs as sails and their silk as an anchor.

Study's lead researcher Morito Hayashi from the Natural History Museum, London, said to know about this trait of spiders, they gathered 325 spiders of 21 species around Nottingham in the UK.

The spiders were placed on water and it was seen that over a third of them took up yoga-like postures allowing them to use wind and move forward. Hayashi said some of the spiders were also using their silk to attach to other objects.

West Nile Virus has been detected in two counties. Since its detection, public health officials in New York State have been warning people about the dangers posed by mosquitoes. There are many steps that people can take to prevent being infected.

The virus has been detected in mosquitoes trapped in Rockland and Suffolk counties. It is for the first time that the disease has been detected in the state. Authorities concerned said that people can take simple steps to reduce the risk posed by West Nile virus.

The FDA said, “Parents and caregivers who notice any signs of slow or shallow breathing, difficult or noisy breathing, confusion, or unusual sleepiness in their child should stop giving their child codeine and seek medical attention immediately”.
