Researchers gain New Understanding on how Memories are formed in Brain

Great advancements have been made in the field of neuroscience and cognitive psychology. Still, there were many mechanisms that remained mysterious. One of such mechanisms has been unfolded in a novel study, which explains how the human brain forms memories.

Study researchers said that from the studies on people having electrodes placed within their heads have unveiled that there are particular neurons in a zone known as mean secular lobe has an important place in quickly coming up with stories of every day functions.

FDA to assess Cough and Cold Medicines for Children having Codeine

The Food and Drug Administration posted on website on Wednesday that it is evaluating all the cough and cold medicines for children that contain codeine. An advisory committee will be formed to discuss the safety issues as well.

The FDA said, “Parents and caregivers who notice any signs of slow or shallow breathing, difficult or noisy breathing, confusion, or unusual sleepiness in their child should stop giving their child codeine and seek medical attention immediately”.

Children of Parents Genetically more Diverse are taller and smarter than their Peers: Study

A journal Nature-published research paper has unveiled that people born from diverse genetic backgrounds have some of the best human qualities. The researchers have come to know that intelligence and height was more in those coming from different backgrounds.

The researchers studied 350,000 people and found that those who were from diverse genetic backgrounds were taller, smarter and also, had many other skills. The researchers have also assessed around 150 studies in which they looked at different factors.

Mice that grow Up with Cat Urine’s Smell do not run away

A novel research has found that mice that are exposed to cat urine are less likely to escape from cats. The researchers affirmed that the mice that get exposed early in life do not avoid the same odor. In fact, they do not escape from cats.

Study researchers have found the molecule in the urine that led mice to feel positive reinforcement. The molecule is known as L-Felinine and due to its presence mice do not escape the cats.

Study’s co-author Vera Voznessenskaya said, “Early exposure to cat odor changes behavioral reactions to, but not physiological (hormonal) responses in the mice, which remain elevated. In fact, mice that had experienced the odor showed stress response (elevated corticosterone) to cat odors the same way as controls”.

Nebraska girl saves two lives with her organs

According to reports, a Nebraska girl is being remembered as a brave child following her death as she helped save two other children’s lives before losing her life. Olivia, 3, from North Platte was suffering from a terminal disease and this year, her health started getting worse while she was on a Disney cruise.

In the meantime, two other children were in need or organs and Olivia’s organs helped save those lives after she passes away. According to Olivia's mother, "She is an amazing little girl and we will miss her so terrible, but I know that, I have renewed faith. How could I not move forward knowing what a miracle she was to these pleading praying families".

250 children in Texas given adult dosages of hepatitis A vaccine

According to US Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials, approximately 250 children at a Texas detention center were given adult dosages of the hepatitis A vaccine. It has been reported by the Los Angeles Times that there are no reports regarding adverse side effects.

As per reports, healthcare professionals at the South Texas Family Residential Center in Dilley are monitoring the children. According to ICE, "Parents at the facility were advised and counseled by medical professionals about potential side effects, with services made available in multiple languages".
