PM to address press conference on January 3

Manmohan-SinghNew Delhi, Dec 31 : Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will address a press conference at 11 a. m. on January 3 at the National Media Centre in central Delhi.

Friday's press conference will be Dr. Singh's second such interaction with the media in his second term as the Prime Minister, which began in May 2009.

He had addressed a press conference during his first term (2004-2009).

Now, Prof. Illana Gozes from the Sagol School of Neuroscience at Tel Aviv University has discovered that an important cell-maintenance process called autophagy is reduced in the brains of schizophrenic patients.

Autophagy is the process in which a membrane engulfs and consumes the clutter and it is essential to maintaining cellular health. But when autophagy is blocked, it can lead to cell death.

According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, nicotine activates receptors known as nAChRs and, remarkably, unlike most other drugs of abuse, it acts as a "pharmacological chaperone" to stabilize assembly of its receptors within the Endoplasmic Reticulum (ER) and increase their abundance at the cell surface (up-regulation).

Up-regulation of nAChRs plays a major role in nicotine addiction and, possibly, in the decreased susceptibility of smokers to Parkinson's disease.

Selena-GomezLondon, December 31 : Selena Gomez came to a suicidal fan's defense and blasted an abusive Instagram user for bullying her.

The 21-year-old singer leaped to the suicidal fan's aid, who posted a scar on her left arm along with a caption revealing her suicidal thoughts, and told the abusive user to "stop being a fan", the Mirror reported.

The ' Come and Get It ' singer told the bully to stop using her name because she doesn't want them as a fan.

She added that she encourages love, confidence and kindness and snubbed the provoking user, who mocked the fan and urged her to cut herself.
